Flood-Damaged Flooring

Hurricane Harvey flooded a home in Houston, TX. Before the new flooring could be installed, the homeowners needed to have their Saltillo tile removed. The homeowners were so pleased with the quality of our work, they asked us to install their new porcelain tile.

Our Tile Installation Process

First, we needed to ensure a proper bond between the porcelain tile and the clean, smooth slab we had prepped for the new installation. We also needed to prevent any potential cracking of the tile were the foundation to undergo non-lateral movement. To address both of these concerns, we applied a liquid rubber and fibrous isolation crack membrane over the entire slab. You can see this flexible membrane in the first image.

Then, we confirmed the layout and design with the homeowners and set to work laying this beautiful 8″ x 45″ porcelain tile. The second image shows the floor during the installation process.

Once all the tiles were set, we applied the grout in the spaces between the tiles and applied caulk along the baseboards. The final image shows the floor after the grout and caulking had dried, and the floor had been cleaned. As you can see, the installation job was perfect.
